Robbery – 14 Division

A 42 year old male reports that on March 10, 2011 at approximately 1400 hours, he was in the area of Queen Street West and Tecumseth Street when he was approached by a male suspect.  The suspect produced a firearm, removed the victim’s wallet from his person, and fled the scene in an unknown direction.  No injuries were sustained by the victim.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described person in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect: Male, white, 25-29 years, 5’3”-5’5”, 119-141 pounds, thin build, brown eyes, brown hair.

Robbery (Mugging) – 13 Division

An 18 year old male reports that on March 10, 2011 at approximately 2118 hours, he was walking in the area of Earlscourt Avenue and Boon Avenue when he was approached from behind by two male suspects, one wearing a disguise.  One of the suspects produced a handgun and made a demand for his property.  The victim complied.  Both suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.  No injuries were sustained by the victim.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1-2: Male, black, 5’10”, 161 pounds, thin build.

Discharge Firearm – 52 Division

On March 11, 2011 at approximately 0136 hours, police attended a bar in the area of Richmond Street West and Spadina Avenue, regarding sounds of gunshots. Once on scene, several witnesses  report that at approximately 0120 hours, they observed two groups of males in the premises. Two of the males started pushing and arguing with each other. One suspect produced a handgun and discharged approximately seven shots into the air. The suspect along with members of each group then fled the scene, some in a black BMW and the others in a black Lexus. No injuries were sustained.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described person in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect: Male, black, 20-28 years, 6’-6’4”, 234-240 pounds, heavy build.

An 18 year old female reports that on March 12, 2011 at approximately 2100 hours, she was in the area of Ranee Avenue and Allen Road when two male suspects exited a vehicle and approached her.  One of the suspects made a demand for the victim’s phone.  The victim refused.  The suspect produced a handgun, pointed it at the victim and removed her cell phone from her person.  The suspects fled the scene towards the vehicle on Ranee Avenue.  Minor injuries were sustained by the victim.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 25 – 28 years, 6’0”, muscular build, bald or shaved head.  Suspect #2: Male, black. No injuries were sustained by the victim. Arrested and Investigated by Members of Traffic Services.

On March 20, 2011 at approximately 1155 hours, Members of the Transit Control-Traffic Services had reason to investigate two male suspects in a motor vehicle at Victoria Park Subway Station parking lot.  At this time, one of the suspects was found to be in possession of a firearm, and subsequently arrested WILLIAMSON and AHMED.  At the time of the arrest, loaded firearm, drug paraphernalia, a quantity of cocaine and cash were located.  Further investigation revealed that the suspects were unauthorized to possess firearms and different firearms prohibitions.  It was also revealed that they failed to comply with conditions of their probations (WILLIAMSON – 3 counts, AHMED – 1 count).  Charged accordingly.  Investigation continuing.

Two 19 year old males report that on March 12, 2011 at approximately 2345 hours, they were in the area of Neptune Drive and Bathurst Street when they were approached by three male suspects, wearing disguises. One suspect brandished a handgun and made a demand for a jacket belonging to one of the victims. The victim complied. The suspects then removed a cellular phone and a quantity of cash from the victims. The suspects fled the scene eastbound on Neptune Drive. No injuries were sustained by the victims. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 6’-6’1”, 161-165 pounds, muscular build. A 25 year old male reports that on March 13, 2011 at approximately 2330 hours, he was in the area of Jane Street and Shoreham Drive when he was approached from behind by two male suspects.  One of the suspects produced a handgun and pointed it at the victim, while the second suspect removed the victim’s cigarettes and wallet containing his ID and cash from his person.  The suspects then fled the scene eastbound on Jane Street towards Shoreham Drive.  No injuries were sustained by the victim.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, Asian, 21 to 23 years, 5’11” to 6’0”, 169 to 180 pounds, medium build.  Suspect # 2:  Male, Asian, 21 to 23 years, 5’8” to 5’10”, 161 to 169 pounds, medium build.

On Saturday, March 12, 2011, members of the TAVIS Rapid Response Team and the TPS Mounted Unit were on patrol in the Entertainment District.

It is alleged that:
− police investigated a man outside a nightclub near 214 Adelaide Street West,
− police located a .45 calibre mini Glock handgun on the accused.

Michael Junior Browne, 26, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Carry Concealed Weapon,
2) Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon,
3) Possession of a Restricted Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized,
4) Possession of a Weapon Obtained by the Commission of an Offence,
5) Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order,
6) Fail To Comply − Probation,
7) Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest.

The accused was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Saturday, March 12, 2011, room 103, at 10 a.m.

On Sunday, March 13, 2011, at 3:45 a.m., members of 12 Division’s Major Crime Unit, with the assistance of the Emergency Task Force, executed a search warrant in the Jane Street/Woolner Avenue area.

It is alleged that:
− police seized a loaded .22 calibre semi−automatic handgun with 12 rounds of ammunition,
− police also seized a quantity of ecstasy and marijuana.

Kevon Jones, 22, of Toronto has been charged with:
1) Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized,
2) Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition,
3) Firearm careless storage,
4) Careless Storage Ammunition,
5) Possession of firearm obtained by the commission of an offence,

A 49 year old male employee of Able Atlantic Taxi, reports that on March 15, 2011 at approximately 0100 hours, he picked up a male fare at the Kennedy subway station and was instructed to drive to the area of Scarborough Golf Club Road and Lawrence Avenue East.  Once at this location the male made a request to sit in the front seat.  Once in the front seat the suspect produced a handgun and made a demand for cash.  The victim complied.  The suspect hit the victim in the face and searched his pocket and removed his cell phone and wallet.  The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.  The victim sustained minor injuries and will seek his own medical attention.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described person in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect: Male, white, 25-30 years, 5’10”, 161-165 pounds, thin build, black hair.

Robbery (Taxi) – 54 Division

A 45 year old male employee of Crown Taxi reports that on March 16, 2011 at approximately 0300 hours, he was flagged down by two male fares at Pape Avenue and Queen Street East.  The victim drove the suspects to Woodycrest Avenue and at that time the suspects ordered the victim to stop. One of the suspects grabbed the victim from behind and the other suspect produced a handgun and held it towards the victim’s head.  This same suspect made a demand for cash, the GPS unit and his cellular phone. The victim complied. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction. No injuries were sustained by the victim. On February 23, 2011 at approximately 1909 hours police responded to a call regarding a shooting in the area of Islington Avenue and Hwy. 401.  Police located a 29 year old male victim suffering from gunshot wounds to both legs.  The victim was transported by EMS to a hospital for treatment.  NO SUSPECT DESCRIPTION AVAILABLE.

Charge(s):  February 24, 2011 – Robbery while armed with firearm

Arrested by Members of No. 41 Division and Investigated by Members of the Hold Up Squad

On March 17, 2010 at approximately 2150 hours, two female employees for Daisy Mart, 9 Progress Avenue report that two male suspects wearing disguises entered the premises and approached the counter.  A third male suspect remained outside as a lookout.  One of the suspects produced a handgun and pressed it to the neck of one of the victims, while demanding cash.  The victims complied.  All three suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction with a quantity of cash, cigarettes and the victims’ jewellery.  Minor injuries were sustained by one of the victims.  Through investigation, a YOUNG OFFENDER was arrested.  Charged accordingly.

Robbery (Home Invasion) – 32 Division

A 22 year old male reports that on February 26, 2011 at approximately 2100 hours, he was in his basement apartment in the area of Willowdale Avenue and Finch Avenue East when he heard the door being forced open.  Three male suspects entered his room and bound his hands, wrists and feet with duct tape and plastic zip ties.  During this time, the homeowner who lives on the main floor attended the basement to check on something when one of the suspects pointed a handgun to his head and tied him up with duct tape and plastic zip ties.  The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction.  It is unknown at this time if any items were taken.  No injuries were sustained by the victims.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1:  Male, asian, 20-29 years, 5’10”, 180 pounds.  Suspect #2:  male, black, 6’1”, 180 pounds, skinny build.  Suspect #3:  Male, white, 5’10”, 200 pounds.

A 51 year old male employee of COOP Cab Company reports that on February 26, 2011 at approximately 2100 hours, he picked up four male suspects near the intersection of George Street and Front Street.  In the area of Broadview Avenue and Dundas Street East, one suspect produced a firearm and made a demand for the victim’s wallet, while another suspect exited the cab and struck the victim in the neck through an open window.  The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction with the victim’s jacket containing his wallet.  The victim suffered minor injuries but declined medical attention.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1:  Male, black, 18-22 years, 5’-5’2”, 110-130 pounds, thin build.  Suspect #2:  Male, black, 18-22 years, 5’6”-5’8”, 110-130 pounds.  Suspect #3:  Male, south asian, 18-22 years, 5’3”-5’5”, 110-130 pounds, thin build.  Suspect #4:  Male, black 18-22 years, 5’-5’2”, 110-130 pounds, thin build.

On Saturday, February 26, 2011, at 10:50 p.m., police responded to a call for a shooting in the Sheppard Avenue East/Neilson Road area.

It is reported that:
− police located a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the body,
− the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is further alleged that:
− two men approached the victim,
− one of the two men pulled out a gun and fired at the victim,
− the two men fled the scene and were arrested by officers from 42 Division.

A post−mortem examination is scheduled for Monday, February 28, 2011.

The victim has been identified as Joel Waldron, 20, of Toronto.

Jordon Mendez, 18, and Shamaree Wilson, 19, both of Toronto, have each been charged
with:
1) First Degree Murder.

They were scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton East, on Monday, February 28,

A 19 year old male employee of Hasty Market, 680 Rexdale Boulevard, reports that on March 2, 2011 at approximately 0220 hours, three male suspects entered the premises, one armed with a handgun and the other with a sword. The suspects approached the counter and demanded that the victim lay down on the floor. The victim did not comply. The suspects knocked the victim to the floor, kicked him about the body and demanded that he open the cash register. The victim complied. The suspects removed a quantity of cash from the register, the victim’s laptop and cellular telephone and then fled the scene on Humberwood Boulevard. A 52 year old female and a 62 year old male, owners of A&A Fine Jewellery, 1500 Royal York Road, report that on March 3, 2011 at approximately 1630 hours three male suspects wearing disguises and armed with handguns entered the premises.  The suspects pointed the handguns at the male victim and orderd the victim to the back of the store where the female victim was working. The suspects then tied the victims’ hands and legs.  The male victim was then struck twice with a handgun and ordered to open two safes.  The victim complied.  The victims were then threatened.  The suspects removed a quantity of cash and jewellery and fled the scene in an unknown direction.  The male victim sustained minor injuries.  No injuries were sustained by the female victim.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1:  Male, black, 20 to 22 years, 5’10” to 5’11”, thin build. Arrested and Investigated by Members of No. 41 Division.

On October 16, 2010 at approximately 2100 hours, a male victim was at his residence on Leyton Avenue.  After hearing a noise, the victim left his residence and was confronted by three male suspects. There was a struggle between the victim and Adam; Adam produced a handgun and shot the victim about the neck.  The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction. Members of Toronto EMS attended the scene and transported the victim to hospital where he was treated for his injuries. Police were notified and through investigations, the above was arrested on March 3, 2011. Charged accordingly. Investigations are continuing.

On Tuesday, March 1, 2011, 51 Division officers arrested a man in connection with a firearm investigation.

It is alleged that:
− on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at 2 p.m., a man was inside the Dundas Street subway station at Dundas Street and Yonge Street,
− a TTC employee saw a gun tucked into the man’s pants,
− the TTC employee contacted police,
− 51 Division Community Response Unit officers, on bike patrol, responded and saw the man with five other men, standing in a parkette, near 9 McGill Street,
− the man then walked away from the other men,
− the man was seen by police throwing drugs away,
− the man was arrested and police found a loaded 25 calibre handgun and a quantity of crack cocaine and marijuana.

On Wednesday, Janaury 16, 2011, at 1:45 a.m., police responded to a call for a shooting in
the Donlands Avenue/Danforth Avenue area.

It is alleged that:
− a 18−year−old man was at bar on Danforth Avenue,
− three men then surrounded the man,
− one of the men pulled out a handgun,
− the victim was shot in the stomach,
− the men then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non−life−threatening injuries.

Orginnally it was reported the shooting occurred at Donlands subway station but police later
found out the shooting happened at a bar in the Donlands Avenue/Danforth Avenue.

On Thursday, February 17, 2011, police executed five search warrants in the GTA.

It is further alleged that:
− police seized a gun holster and other related evidence.
− police also arrested two men.

Akins Fortune, 22, of Toronto, has been charged with:

A 21 year old male reports that on February 17, 2011 at approximately 2200 hours he was in an apartment building stairwell in the area of Thorncliffe Park Drive and Overlea Blvd when he was approached by six male suspects. Two of the suspects produced firearms, and the victim was hit, kicked and punched about the head and body numerous times by all six suspects.  One of the suspects removed a wallet, a quantity of cash, jewellery and a cellular telephone from the victim.  The suspects then forced the victim into a vehicle and drove around for a period of time before the victim was able to escape.  The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction. − on Saturday, February 19, 2011, two armed men knocked on the victim’s door,

the home,
− one man, armed with a gun, forced the mother to accompany him while he opened various
doors throughout the house, while the second man stayed with her daughter,
− the men were looking for a specific item.

The suspects are described as black, with heavy Jamaican accents, 5″9−6′, wearing suits and
overcoats.

On Sunday, September 13, 2010, police responded to a call for a shooting at Fairview Mall.

It is alleged that:
− a security officer observed the accused stealing,

Arrested by Members of Intelligence. Investigated by Members of the Hold-Up Squad.

On February 14, 2011 two male suspects, wearing disguises and one armed with a handgun, entered Homa Pharmacy, 2698 Jane Street, and approached the victim. The suspects made a demand for prescription drugs and removed a quantity of cash from the cash register. The suspects then fled the scene in a reported stolen vehicle. Officers were in the area at the time of the robbery and the suspects were arrested a short distance away. As a result of investigation, a Criminal Code Search Warrant was executed by Members of the Hold-UP Squad and Members of 31 Division, MCU at the residence of one of the suspects. Further investigations revealed that during the period between January 1, 2011 and February 7, 2011, two male suspects armed with handguns and wearing disguises, entered several businesses throughout the GTA area. Once inside the premises, the suspects made a demand for cash and prescription drugs. On several occasions, the victims complied and the suspects fled the scene. No injuries were sustained by the victims. Seized at the  time of the search warrant were several of the reported stolen items. Subsequently, TRIFILETTI  and DOUGLAS were charged accordingly.

An 18 year old male and a 17 year old male report that on February 13, 2011 at approximately 1800 hours, they were in the area of Kingston Road and Midland Avenue when a motor vehicle drove up beside them. Six male suspects, wearing disguises, exited the vehicle and approached the victims. One suspect produced a handgun, threatened the victims and ordered them to their knees. The armed suspect struck the 18 year old victim on the side of his head with the handgun. The suspects searched the victims’ pants pockets and removed a quantity of cash and a cellular phone. The suspects then re-entered the vehicle and fled the scene in an unknown direction. The 18 year old victim sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention. No injuries were sustained by the other victim. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 5’8”, 161 pounds, medium build. On Friday, February 11, 2011, at 8:40 p.m., 51 Division Major Crime officers, in conjunction
with members of Intelligence Services, started a kidnapping investigation.

It is alleged that:
− on Friday, February 11, 2011, at 2 p.m., a 21−year−old man was confronted and abducted
by four males, two of whom were armed with handguns,
− a ransom demand was made to the victim’s family,
− police attempted to arrest the four males in the Sherbourne Street/Dundas Street East area,
− the four males fled on foot,
− one male, a Young Offender, was arrested in front of 245 Sherbourne Street,
− the three other males ran to a first−floor apartment at 257 Sherbourne Street, where two of
the males forced their way inside, assaulting the homeowners,
− the third male, a Young Offender, was apprehended as he tried to enter the unit,
− he was in possession of a loaded handgun,
− one of the two outstanding males who had forced his way into the apartment, ran out the
back door of the unit and was apprehended,
− he was also armed with a loaded handgun.
− the last male barricaded himself inside the unit,
− the male was removed from the home by members of the Emergency Task Force,
− the victim was released unharmed.

On February 3, 2011, at approximately 2130 hours, a male victim was attempting to get back to his vehicle at the rear of a building on Victoria Park Avenue when a male suspect blocked him from getting in.  The suspect produced and discharged his shotgun striking the victim about the body.  The victim managed to make good his escape and was transported to hospital where he was treated for his injuries.  On February 4, 2011 at about 2250 hours, Members of No. 41 Division Major Crime Unit attended an address in Pickering and located CADA.  At the time of the arrest, CADA was found to be in possession of a firearm. Charged accordingly.  Investigation continuing.

− on Thursday, February 3, 2011, police located seven firearms and ammunition in his home.

On Thursday, February 3, 2011, Gary Dawson was further charged with:
1) five counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,
2) seven counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device,
3) four counts of Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition,

Robbery (Home Invasion) – 42 Division

A 37 year old female and a 24 year old female report that on February 1, 2011 between 2030 hours and 2350 hours, they were in their apartment in the area of Birchmount Road and Sheppard Avenue.  One of the females answered a knock at the door when three male suspects forced their way into the apartment.  One of the suspects produced a knife and held it to the victim’s throat.  The suspects took the victim into one of the bedrooms where the second female victim was located.  The suspects produced a black handgun and made a demand for cash and the PIN numbers of the victims’ debit cards.  The victims complied.  The suspects then bound both victims’ hands with electrical cord.  The suspects fled the scene with two laptop computers, cell phones, wallets and a quantity of cash from the residence. Arrested by Members of No. 32 Division. Investigated by Members of the Hold-Up Squad.

On November 11, 2010, a 65 year old male courier was returning to his vehicle in the area of Richmond Street East and Berti Street when he was approached by two male suspects (one still outstanding). The suspects grabbed the victim’s duffle bag containing a quantity of jewellery. A struggle ensued and one suspect brandished a ‘stun gun’ but did not use it. The same suspect pepper sprayed the victim and removed his duffle bag. Both suspects then fled the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries and sought his own medical attention. As a result of investigation, STEWART was identified and arrested on January 24, 2010. At the time of the arrest, STEWART was in possession of a ‘stun gun’. Subsequently, a Criminal Code Search Warrant was executed at his residence in Newmarket, Ontario. Located was a 45 caliber pistol, ammunition and a pair of gloves with pepper spray residue. Further investigation revealed that STEWART had failed to comply with the conditions of his probation. Charged accordingly.

Robbery (Business) – 23 Division

Two females, ages 49 years and 42 years, employees of Westown Pharmacy, 235 Dixon Road, report that on January 24, 2011 at approximately 1946 hours, they just exited the premises when a male suspect wearing a mask exited a vehicle and approached them.  The suspect pointed a handgun at the victims and directed them to go inside the pharmacy and open the safe.  The victims refused to go inside the premises and screamed, at which time, the suspect got into his vehicle and drove away westbound on Dixon Road.  No injuries were sustained by the victims.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described person in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect:  Male, 35 to 45 years, 5’6” to 5’8”, 161 to 180 pounds, medium build.

Robbery (Home Invasion) – 42 Division

A 52 year old male and a 49 year old female report that on January 27, 2011 at approximately 1100 hours, they were in their dwelling in the area of Swells Road and Empringham Drive when the male victim answered to a knock at the door. Four male suspects forced their way in, produced guns, forced the victims to the basement and bound their hands and feet. The suspects removed a quantity of cash, jewellery and clothing and fled the scene in an unknown direction. The female victim sustained minor injures, but will seek her own medical attention. The male victim did not sustain any injuries. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 20 to 25 years, 6’1” to 6’4”. Suspects #2-#4: Male, black, 20 to 25 years, 5’8”.

On Saturday, January 23, 2011, police began an investigation into an alleged illegal
after−hours club, at 791 Dundas Street West.

It is alleged that:
<span style=”color: #000000;”>− after a lengthy investigation, on Saturday, January 23, 2011, at 2:35 a.m., a search warrant
was executed at 791 Dundas Street West, in regards to the illegal selling of alcohol,
− the accused, working as a doorman, ran into the women’s washroom when officers arrived,
− officers located a high−powered 9mm semi−automatic pistol in the sink, along with a loaded
magazine.

Jason Junior Smith, 35, of Toronto, is charged with:
1. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,
2. Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition,
3. Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized,
4. Posses Firearm Serial Number Altered,
5. Possess Firearm Knowing the Serial Number has been Altered, Defaced or Removed,
6. Possession of a Firearm Obtained by the Commission of an Offence,
7. Weapons Dangerous.

The accused appeared in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, January 23, 2011, room 101, 10a.m.

Man and woman face 13 charges in armed robbery investigation

On Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at 5:12 a.m., police responded to a robbery call at the
Pioneer gas station, at 198 Brown’s Line.

It is alleged that:
− a man entered the Pioneer gas station store area on Brown’s Line, while a woman remained
waiting in a car in front of the gas station,
− the man walked to the counter, pointed a handgun at the attendant, and made a demand for
cash,
− the man left the store and got into the waiting car and drove off,
− a partial licence plate was recorded at the scene.

It is further alleged that:
− at 11:55 a.m., police found the vehicle used in the above armed robbery on Shaw Street,
− two men and a woman began to get out of the car when officers approached to make
arrests,
− the woman ran, but was arrested a short distance away,
− the two men got back into the car and drove off at high speed,
− the vehicle drove the wrong way down Richmond Street West, a one−way street, and
collided head−on with another car,
− the driver attempted to prevent the two men from running away,
− one of the men pulled out a handgun and fired two shots into the ground, then the two men
fled, prior to police arriving at the collision scene,
− after a search of the area, both men were arrested and a loaded handgun seized.

After further investigation, one of the men, 33, was released with no charges laid.

Christopher Donnelly, 30, of Burlington, has been charged with:
1. Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition,
2. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,
3. Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized.
4. Discharge Firearm Endanger Life,
5. Firearm Careless Use,
6. Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order,
7. Possess Firearm Serial Number Altered,
8. Dangerous Operation,
9. Fail to Stop After Accident,
10. Robbery While Armed with a Firearm.

Ashley Burt, 26, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1. Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition,
2. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,
3. Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized.

Both accused were scheduled to appear in court at College Park Courts on Thursday,
January 27, 2011, room 507, 10 a.m.

Robbery (Home Invasion) – 14 Division

A 27 year old male reports that on January 18, 2011 at approximately 0140 hours, he was about to enter his apartment in the area of Augusta Avenue and Queen Street West when he was approached from behind by two male suspects. One suspect produced a firearm, pointed it at the victim and demanded entry into the premises. The victim complied. The suspects searched the premises, removed a quantity of cash and demanded more. Another suspect struck the victim about the head and body with the handle of the gun and removed cellular phones, computer equipment, video games and a bank card. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. The victim sustained minor injuries but declined EMS. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence. Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, early 20’s, 5’11” – 6’1”, 130lbs – 150lbs, short black hair. Suspect #2: Male, black, mid 20’s, 5’11” – 6’1”, 160lbs – 170lbs, short black hair.

On Wednesday, January 12, 2011, four men were arrested in connection with a robbery
investigation.

It is reported that:
− on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, four men, one armed with a silver handgun, robbed a
convenience store, near Markham Road/Painted Post Avenue area,
− the men then fled the area and were arrested near the intersection of McCowan
Road/Ellesmere Avenue,

Police have not located the handgun. It is believed to have been dropped by one of the
suspects in one of the following areas:
− Painted Post Drive to Mountland Drive,
− Brimorton Drive to McCowan Avenue,
− McCowan Avenue at the intersection of Ellesmere Avenue,
− the residential area southwest of the intersection of McCowan Avenue/Ellesmere Avenue.

Arrested and investigated by Members of Hold-Up Squad

On January 11, 2011, four male suspects attended Sherway Gardens, 25 The West Mall and entered retail stores. The suspects loaded bags with merchandise and fled. On one occasion, all of the suspects were confronted by store security. One of the suspects produced a handgun and pointed it towards a security guard. All of the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle which had previously been reported stolen from an unrelated matter. Officers gave chase and attempted to box in the vehicle. The suspects exited the vehicle and fled in different directions. Subsequently, the above suspects were apprehended a short time later. No injuries were sustained by the victims. Officers sustained minor injuries but were able to continue their tour of duty. At the time of arrest, MERCER was found to be in possession of a master filed down car key used to unlock specific vehicles. Further investigation revealed that three of the suspects had failed to comply with the conditions of their probation and recognizance. Full recovery has been made.

A 30 year old male, a 33 year old male, a 25 year old male and a 24 year old male, report that on January 12. 2011 at approximately 1400 hours, they were inside their dwelling located in the area of Jane Street and Steeles Avenue when one of the victims responded to a knock at the door. At that time three male suspects, two armed with handguns, forced their way inside the premises. One of the suspects pushed and punched the victim backwards into a room with the other three victims. A second suspect who was armed with a handgun pistol whipped one of the other victims. The suspects removed a quantity of cellular telephones and laptops. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction. Two of the victims received minor injuries but refused medical treatment. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence. Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 25 to 30 years, 6’ to 6’1”, 180 lbs to 189 lbs, medium build, black hair. Suspect #2: Male, black, 25 to 30 years, 5’6” to 5’8”, medium build, short black hair. Suspect #3: Male. NO FURTHER DESCRIPTION AVAILABLE.

Once at this location the suspect observed the male victim and pointed the firearm at this victim and made a demand for prescription drugs. The victim did not comply. The suspect then fled the scene empty handed in an older dark coloured four door vehicle in an unknown direction. No injuries were sustained by the victims. A 16 year old male reports that on January 14, 2011 at approximately 1530 hours, he was walking in the area of Marcos Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East, when he was approached by two suspects in a vehicle. The suspects exited the vehicle and engaged the victim in conversation. One suspect produced a handgun and the suspects removed the victim’s iPod and cellular telephone. The suspects then fled the scene in a blue Honda civic in an unknown direction. No injuries were sustained by the victim. On January 16, 2011 at approximately 0200 hours, officers responded to a radio call for a shooting in the area of Donlands Avenue and Danforth Avenue. A male victim was located in the area with a gunshot wound to the stomach. The victim was transported to a hospital by Toronto EMS, where he was admitted and treated.
