Man and woman face 28 charges in firearm/drug investigation, Loaded handgun seized

On Thursday, February 10, 2011, officers from the TPS Drug Squad arrested a man and
woman in the Meadowvale Road/Highway 401 area.

Police executed a search warrant at a home on Durnford Road.

It is alleged that:
− police seized drugs, cash, a loaded .45 calibre handgun and 25 rounds of ammunition.

Dwight Wisdom, 29, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) three counts of Traffic in Cocaine,
2) two counts of Possession for the Purpose Cocaine,
3) Possession of Proceeds of Crime,
4) Possession for the Purpose Marijuana,
5) Possession of Proceeds of Crime,
6) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,
7) Possession Restricted Firearm with Ammunition,
8) Firearm Careless Storage,
9) Possession of Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized,
10) Possession of Firearm Obtained by Commission of an Offence,
11) Careless Storage of Ammunition,
12) Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order.

A 22 year old male employee for Wilson Service Station, 453 Wilson Avenue, reports that on February 9, 2011 at approximately 2045 hours, a male suspect approached the victim.  The suspect produced a handgun and made a demand for cash from the till.  The victim showed the suspect an empty till, and the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. No injuries were sustained by the victim.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described person in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 23 – 26 years, 5’10” – 5’11”, 169lbs, medium build.  Suspect #2:  Male, 35 – 39 years, 5’6”, 161lbs.

A 58 year old male owner of Olympic Grocery and Variety, 108 King Street, reports that on February 11, 2011 at approximately 2100 hours, a male suspect entered the store and approached the counter.  The suspect produced a handgun and made a demand for cash. The victim did not comply.  The suspect fled the scene empty handed in an unknown direction. No injuries were sustained by the victim.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described person in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect:  Male, black, 30 – 40 years, medium build.

Robbery (Mugging) – 31 Division

A 27 year old male reports that on February 11, 2011 at approximately 1815 hours, he was in the area of Keele Street and Steeles Avenue when he was approached from behind by two male suspects, armed with handguns.  The suspects surrounded the victim and attempted to take a cellular phone from the victim’s hand.  The suspects then fled the scene empty handed, northbound towards Ottawa Road.  No injuries were sustained by the victim.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 18 to 20 years, 6’0” to 6’2”, 161 to 169 pounds, thin build, short black hair.  Suspect #2: Male, black, 18 to 20 years, 5’8” to 5’10”, 150 pounds, medium build.

On Friday, February 11, 2011, at 7:52 p.m., police responded to a shooting call at an
apartment building at 70 Stevenvale Drive.

Officers located a man in his early 20s in the lobby suffering from an obvious gunshot wound.

He was taken to hospital but succumbed to his injuries while enroute.

The victim has not yet been identified.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who was in the area, prior to or shortly after the

A 53 year old employee of Lent Variety, 816 Jane Street, reports that on February 12, 2011 at approximately 2115 hours, a male suspect entered the premises and approached the counter.  The suspect produced a handgun and made a demand for cash. A struggle ensued and the suspect fled empty-handed heading westbound on Haney Avenue. The victim did not sustain any injuries. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described person in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect: Male, black, 5’10” to 6’1”, 150 to 180 pounds, medium build, brown eyes, short curly black hair.

Robbery (Mugging) – 41 Division

A 26 year old male resports that on February 13, 2011 at approximately 2322 hours, he was in the area of Ellesmere Road and Midland Avenue, when he was approached by two male suspects.  The suspects grabbed the victim from behind, punched and kicked him about his head and body.  A struggle ensued and one of the suspects produced a firearm.  The suspects removed the victim’s iPhone, wallet containing his IDs and cash, and an orange messenger bag with his work uniform from his person.  The suspects fled the scene in a north west direction.  The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported by Toronto EMS to a hospital for treatment.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 17 to 20 years, 5’10” to 6’, thin build.  Suspect #2: Male, black, 20 to 23 years, 5’10” to 6’, thin build.

A 19 year old male reports that on February 11, 2011 at approximately 1830 hours, he was in the area of Ottawa Road and Ian MacDonald Boulevard, when he was approached from behind by two male suspects.  The suspects produced a handgun and threatened the victim, making a demand for the victim’s wallet.  The victim complied.  The suspects removed a quantity of cash from the victim’s wallet, and then fled the scene southbound on Ottawa Road.  No injuries were sustained by the victim.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 22 to 25 years, 6’2”.  Suspect #2: Male, black, 22 to 25 years, 5’9”, medium build.

A 24 year old female employee of Cash Max, 2175 Weston Road, reports that on February 14, 2011 at approximately 1115 hours, two male suspects, wearing disguises and armed with handguns, entered the premises and approached the counter.  The suspects produced a handgun and threatened the victim, making a demand for cash.  The victim complied and unlocked the safety deposit boxes for the suspects.  The suspects removed a quantity of cash and jewellery from the safety deposit boxes, and then fled the scene northbound on Weston Road.  No injuries were sustained by the victim.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 21 to 25 years, 5’8” to 6’0”, 150 to 180 pounds, medium build, short black hair, brown eyes.  Suspect #2: Male, black, 21 to 25 years, 5’6” to 5’10”, 141 to 161 pounds, medium build.

Man faces 25 charges in attempt murder investigation

On Sunday, September 13, 2010, police responded to a call for a shooting at Fairview Mall.

It is alleged that:
− a security officer observed the accused stealing,
− the security officer attempted to arrest the accused,
− the accused pointed a firearm at the security officer and fired once at the officer, missing the
officer,
− the accused then fled the area,
− a handgun was recovered at the scene.

On Friday, February 4, 2011, Christopher Alexander, 27, of Toronto, was arrested in Calgary,
on a Canada Wide Warrant, by the Calgary Police Service.

It is further alleged that:
− during the arrest, a second handgun was recovered.

It is also alleged that:
− on Friday, February 11, 2011, while the accused was being returned to Toronto, during the
flight, the accused assaulted two TPS officers.

Charge(s):  February 14, 2011 – Robbery (3 Counts – Douglas), (8 Counts – Trifiletti), Use imitation firearm to commit indictable offence (3 Counts – Douglas), (8 Counts – Trifiletti), Disguise with intent,  (2 Counts – Douglas), (8 Counts – Trifiletti), Theft Under (2 Counts -Trifiletti only), Possession Property obtained by crime under (Trifiletti only).

Arrested by Members of Intelligence. Investigated by Members of the Hold-Up Squad.

On February 14, 2011 two male suspects, wearing disguises and one armed with a handgun, entered Homa Pharmacy, 2698 Jane Street, and approached the victim. The suspects made a demand for prescription drugs and removed a quantity of cash from the cash register. The suspects then fled the scene in a reported stolen vehicle. Officers were in the area at the time of the robbery and the suspects were arrested a short distance away. As a result of investigation, a Criminal Code Search Warrant was executed by Members of the Hold-UP Squad and Members of 31 Division, MCU at the residence of one of the suspects. Further investigations revealed that during the period between January 1, 2011 and February 7, 2011, two male suspects armed with handguns and wearing disguises, entered several businesses throughout the GTA area. Once inside the premises, the suspects made a demand for cash and prescription drugs. On several occasions, the victims complied and the suspects fled the scene. No injuries were sustained by the victims. Seized at the  time of the search warrant were several of the reported stolen items. Subsequently, TRIFILETTI  and DOUGLAS were charged accordingly.

Robbery (Swarming) – 41 Division

An 18 year old male and a 17 year old male report that on February 13, 2011 at approximately 1800 hours, they were in the area of Kingston Road and Midland Avenue when a motor vehicle drove up beside them. Six male suspects, wearing disguises, exited the vehicle and approached the victims. One suspect produced a handgun, threatened the victims and ordered them to their knees. The armed suspect struck the 18 year old victim on the side of his head with the handgun. The suspects searched the victims’ pants pockets and removed a quantity of cash and a cellular phone. The suspects then re-entered the vehicle and fled the scene in an unknown direction. The 18 year old victim sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention. No injuries were sustained by the other victim. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 5’8”, 161 pounds, medium build. Robbery (Home Invasion) – 43 Division

A 39 year old resident of West Hill Drive reports that on February 16, 2011 at approximately 1354 hours she responded to a knock at her door.  At that time a male suspect and two other male suspects, one armed with a handgun and wearing a disguise, forced their way into the pemises. One of the suspects pushed the victim onto a chair, pointed a handgun and threatened her.  At that time two of the suspects proceeded to kick open a bedroom door of a 19 year old female victim.  This same victim advised she contacted police.  The suspects then fled the scene empty handed in a beige 4-door vehicle westbound on West Hill Drive.  No injuries were sustained by the victims.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1:  Male, 15-25 years, 5’8”-5’9”, thin build.  Suspect #2: Male, 15-25 years, 5’5”-5’9”, thin build.  Suspect #3:  Male, 15-25 years, 5’8”-5’9”, thin build.

On Friday, February 11, 2011, at 8:40 p.m., 51 Division Major Crime officers, in conjunction
with members of Intelligence Services, started a kidnapping investigation.

It is alleged that:
− on Friday, February 11, 2011, at 2 p.m., a 21−year−old man was confronted and abducted
by four males, two of whom were armed with handguns,
− a ransom demand was made to the victim’s family,
− police attempted to arrest the four males in the Sherbourne Street/Dundas Street East area,
− the four males fled on foot,
− one male, a Young Offender, was arrested in front of 245 Sherbourne Street,
− the three other males ran to a first−floor apartment at 257 Sherbourne Street, where two of
the males forced their way inside, assaulting the homeowners,
− the third male, a Young Offender, was apprehended as he tried to enter the unit,
− he was in possession of a loaded handgun,
− one of the two outstanding males who had forced his way into the apartment, ran out the
back door of the unit and was apprehended,
− he was also armed with a loaded handgun.
− the last male barricaded himself inside the unit,
− the male was removed from the home by members of the Emergency Task Force,
− the victim was released unharmed.
− police recovered a loaded 9 mm semi−automatic pistol and a loaded .38 special revolver.
