Robbery (Financial Institution) – 42 Division

A 42 year old teller for Duca Financial, 1265 Morningside Avenue, reports that on January 28, 2011 at approximately 1645 hours, a male suspect entered the premises and approached the counter.  The suspect produced a handgun and made a demand for cash.  The victim complied.  The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction.  No injuries were sustained by the victim. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described person in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect:  Male, black, 40-42 years, 6’, heavy build.

Robbery (Swarming) – 54 Division

A 15 year old male reports that on January 28, 2011 at approximately 1930 hours he was in the area of Gateway Boulevard and Don Mills Road when he was approached from behind by three male suspects.  One suspect grabbed the victim pulling him backwards and produced a handgun.  The suspects removed the victim’s  blackberry, iPod, wallet and personal identification. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.   No injuries were sustained by the victim.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1 & #2:  Male, black, 18-21 years, 5’9”-6’1”, brown eyes, thin build.  Suspect #3:  Male, black, 18-21 years, 5’6”-5’9”, brown eyes, thin build.

Robbery (Mugging) – 32 Division

Two males, ages 16 years, report that on January 28, 2011 at approximately 2135 hours, they were in the area of Dufferin Street and Highway 401 when they were approached by two male suspects.  One suspect produced a handgun, removed a jacket and cellular telephone from one victim then removed a cellular telephone from the second victim.  The suspects then fled the scene southbound on Ranee Avenue.  No injuries were sustained by the victim.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1:  Male, black, 20-25 years, 6’-6’2”, 180-200 pounds, medium build.  Suspect #2:  Male, black, 20-25 years, 5’7”-5’8”, medium build.

Discharge Firearm – 53 Division

On January 29, 2011 at approximately 0246 hours, police were dispatched to the area of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue East for a discharge firearm call.  Investigation revealed that two female victims were involved in an altercation.  Two male suspects had approached the female victims and discharged several rounds.  One female victim suffered minor injuries but will seek her own medical attention, while the other female suffered no injuries.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 20 to 25 years, 5’5” to 5’8”, 134 to 150 pounds, thin build.  Suspect #2: Male, black, 20 to 30 years, 5’6” to 5’8”, 174 to 200 pounds, stocky build.

Robbery (Swarming) – 54 Division

A 23 year old female reports that on January 30, 2011 at approximately 2000 hours, she was in the area of Crescent Town Road and Goodwood Park Crescent when she was approached by three male suspects. One suspect produced a handgun and made a demand for the victim’s purse and cellular phone. The suspects then grabbed the victim’s purse and cellular phone. The suspects fled the scene towards Goodwood Park Court. No injuries were sustained by the victim. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, south asian, 20-24 years, 5’8”-5’9”, thin build, brown eyes. Suspect #2-#3: Male, south asian, 20-24 years, 5’8”, brown eyes.

Robbery (Home Invasion) – 13 Division

A 23 year old male reports that on January 31, 2011 at approximately 1133 hours, he was in his residence on Greenlaw Avenue when two male suspects wearing disguises breached a door and entered the premises. One of the suspects made a demand for property, produced a handgun and shot the victim about the area of the abdomen. The suspects then fled the scene empty-handed in an unknown direction. The victim was transported by members of Toronto EMS to hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspects #1 and #2: Male, white.

Robbery (Mugging) – 23 Division

A resident of Summitcrest Drive reports that on February 1, 2011, between 1830 hours and 2320 hours, members of the family returned home and interrupted a break and enter in progress.  A male suspect ran from the house, approached the 20 year old female, produced a black handgun and placed the gun to her head, making a demand for cash.  The victim complied.  The victim was able to get into her car and make good her escape.  No items were removed from the home.  No injuries were sustained by the victim.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described person in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect: Male, 24 to 29 years, 5’6” to 5’7”, thin build, olive complexion, black eyes.

Robbery (Home Invasion) – 42 Division

A 37 year old female and a 24 year old female report that on February 1, 2011 between 2030 hours and 2350 hours, they were in their apartment in the area of Birchmount Road and Sheppard Avenue.  One of the females answered a knock at the door when three male suspects forced their way into the apartment.  One of the suspects produced a knife and held it to the victim’s throat.  The suspects took the victim into one of the bedrooms where the second female victim was located.  The suspects produced a black handgun and made a demand for cash and the PIN numbers of the victims’ debit cards.  The victims complied.  The suspects then bound both victims’ hands with electrical cord.  The suspects fled the scene with two laptop computers, cell phones, wallets and a quantity of cash from the residence. Minor injuries were sustained by one of the victims, but she will seek her own medical attention.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, asian, 5’0” to 5’2”, 110 to 130 pounds, thin build, brown eyes, shoulder length black straight hair.  Suspect #2:  Male, asian, 5’7” to 5’8”, 130 to 161 pounds, medium build, short black straight hair.  Suspect #3:  Male, asian, 5’7” to 5’8”, 130 to 161 pounds, medium build, brown eyes, short straight dyed red hair.

On Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at 9:15 p.m., police responded to a call for a shooting at 2400
Finch Avenue West.

It is reported that:
− police located a 55−year−old man with a gunshot wound to the body,
− he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post−mortem examination is yet to be scheduled.

On Saturday, January 29, 2011, police responded to a call for a shooting at 2737 Kipling
Avenue.

It is reported that:
− a man was at a party inside an apartment at 2737 Kipling Avenue,
− the man was asked to come outside the apartment by another man,
− the man left the apartment and entered the stairwell where he was shot several times in the
back and leg,
− the suspect fled the scene.

On Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at 9:40 p.m., the Gun and Gang Task Force executed a
search warrant at an address on Gordonridge Place.

It is alleged that:
− during the execution of the warrant, a quantity of crack cocaine and a loaded 9mm handgun
was seized.

Desmond Thompson, 26, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1. Acquire Firearm without FAC,
2. Firearm Careless Storage,
3. Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition,
4. Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized,
5. Possession of a Firearm Obtained by the Commission of on Offence,
6. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,
7. Finding a Firearm Fail to Report,
8. Weapons Dangerous,
9. Careless Storage Ammunition,
10. Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device,
11. Possession of Proceeds of Crime,
12. Possession for the Purpose Cocaine,
13. Possession of Cocaine.

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Thursday, February 3, 2011, room
114, 10 a.m.
