Robbery (Mugging) – 23 Division

A 21 year old male and a 18 year old male report that on December 22, 2010 at approximately 1900 hours, they were in the area of Lynmont Road and Fourleaf Drive when they were approached from behind by a male suspect.  The suspect produced a handgun and made a demand for cash and the victims’ property. The suspect then put the gun to one of the victim’s head and removed his cellular phone. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.  No injuries were sustained by the victims. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described person in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect:  Male, black, 20 to 22 years, 6’0”, thin build

Robbery (Home Invasion) – 43 Division

A 28 year old male reports that on December 22, 2010 at approximately 2317 hours, he was in his dwelling on Markham Road when four male suspects wearing disguises forced their way in.  One suspect struck the victim about the head with a handgun and forced the victim and three other victims to the basement where they were confined to a bathroom.  The suspects then removed a quantity of property and identifications from the dwelling and fled the scene in an unknown direction.  Toronto EMS attended and transported two of the victims to a hospital where they were treated for their injuries and released. Woman faces four charges in firearm investigation

On Friday, September 24, 2010, police responded to a call for a fire at 200 Wellesley Street East.

At the time of the fire, the entire building was evacuated and sealed off by security and police.

While residents were housed at other locations, Toronto Community Housing continued to keep the building sealed off. Repairs to the building were started and repair teams went from one unit to another.

It is alleged that:

− on Friday, October 22, 2010, an employee of a contracting company started doing repairs to one of the units,
− the employee saw a white box located in a closet,
− the employee opened the box and found a Heckler and Koch model 91 semi−automatic
assault rifle.

On Wednesday, December 22, 2010, Shar−Dey Phipps−Walker, 22, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
2) Possession prohibited weapon,
3) Careless storage of a firearm,
4) Careless storage of a prohibited weapon.

She was scheduled to appear in court at College Park, on Thursday, December 23, 2010, room 501, at 10 a.m.

A 56 year old male reports that on December 23, 2010 at approximately 2000 hours, he was in the area of Potsdam Road and Finch Avenue West when he was approached by two male suspects. One suspect produced a handgun while the other suspect grabbed the victim and made a demand for cash. The victim complied. One suspect removed the victim’s wrist watch. The suspects then fled the scene westbound on Finch Avenue West. No injuries were sustained by the victim. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1-#2: Male, black, 20-25 years, 5’6”-5’8”, 150-169 pounds, medium build.

Robbery (Home Invasion) – 32 Division

A male and female both 29 years old, report that on December 23, 2010 at approximately 2130 hours, they were in their home in the area of Lawrence Avenue West and Avenue Road when two male suspects entered the residence.  One suspect produced a firearm and made demands for a safe.  The male victim advised they didn’t have a safe.  The suspects tied up the victims and searched the home for the safe.  The suspects then attempted to confirm the address of the home.  The suspects removed laptops, bottles of wine and video game consoles and fled the scene in an unknown direction.  No injuries were sustained by the victims.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1:  Male, black, 17-21 years, 5’10”.  Suspect #2:  Male, black, 17-21 years.  NO FURTHER DESCRIPTIONS AVAILABLE.

Three men face 26 charges in firearm investigation, Firearm seized

On Thursday, December 23, 2010, at 2:50 a.m., police responded to a call for shots fired at 15 Brunel Court.

It is alleged that:

− two groups of men became involved in a verbal confrontation which escalated into a firearm being discharged twice,
− one of the rounds entered a seventh−floor unit through a tenant’s living room window,
− the men fled from the area in a car,
− the car fled onto the Gardiner Expressway and was seen by a highway traffic officer travelling at 140 km/hr,
− the car crashed on the South Kingsway off−ramp after a short police pursuit,
− during the crash, one of the occupants threw a .40 calibre semi−automatic weapon out of the passenger window, later seized by police,
− the driver and the passengers were then arrested by police.

Gary Dacres, 39, of Mississauaga, has been charged with:

1) Fail To Stop for Police,
2) Dangerous Operation,
3) Impaired Driving,
4) Refuse Breath Sample,
5) Possession of a Firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized,
6) Unauthorized presence of a firearm in a motor vehicle,
7) Possession of a Prohibited Weapon obtained by Crime,

9) Possession of a Firearm contrary to Prohibition Order.

Addie Downey, 33, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) two counts of Discharge Firearm Endanger Life,
2) Pointing a Firearm,
3) Careless use of a Firearm,
4) Weapons Dangerous,
5) Mischief Under,
6) Possession of a Firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized,
7) Unauthorized presence of a firearm in a motor vehicle,
8) Unauthorized possession of a Firearm,
9) Possession of a Prohibited Weapon obtained by Crime,
10) two counts of Obstruct peace Officer,
11) Personation with Intent

Cory Fraser, 34, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Possessions of a Firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized,
2) Unauthorized presence of a firearm in a motor vehicle,
3) Possession of a Prohibited weapon Obtained by Crime,
4) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.

They were scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Friday, December 24, 2010, room 101, at 10 a.m.

A 31 year old male employee of Petro Canada, 9501 Sheppard Avenue East, reports that on December 24, 2010 at approximately 2139 hours, two male suspects wearing disguises entered the premises and went behind the counter. One suspect produced a handgun and ordered the victim to the floor.  The suspects removed a quantity of cash from the cash register, lottery tickets from a display counter and cigarettes from drawers. The suspects then fled the scene westbound on Sheppard Avenue East. No injuries were sustained by the victims. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, white, 5’5’-5’6”. Suspect #2: Male, white, 6’, thin build.

Attempt Murder – 11 Division

A 17 year old male reports that on December 25, 2010 at approximately 1800 hours he was in the area of Dundas Street West and Jane Street West when he heard the sound of gunshots.  After hearing the gunshots, he observed a bus shelter shatter, and made good his escape. Upon arriving at home he observed a gunshot wound to the left thigh. The victim was then transported to hospital by Peel Region EMS for treatment where he was treated for his injuries and released. Six male adults report that on December 26, 2010 at approximately 1030 hours, one of the males was entering an apartment in the area of Northtown Way and Doris Avenue when two male suspects, wearing disguises, forced their way inside. One suspect produced a handgun and made a demand for the victims’ cash and cellular phones. The victims complied. The suspects also removed a playstation from the premises and personal belongings from the victims. The suspects then fled the scene in an awaiting older style dark Nissan Altima, 4-door, black, towards Doris Avenue. One victim sustained minor injuries and will seek his own medical attention. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 5’8”-5’9”, 130-141 pounds, skinny build.  Suspect #2:  Male, black, 5’9”-6’, 161-180 pounds, medium build.

Robbery (Swarming) – 32 Division

A 26 year old female and a 36 year old male report that on December 28, 2010 at approximately 2130 hours, they were walking towards their vehicle parked in the lot at 3401 Dufferin Street, when they observed three male suspects inside their vehicle.  The male victim confronted the suspects and one of the suspects fled the scene towards a vehicle also parked in the parking lot.  Another suspect produced a handgun and made a demand for the female victim’s purse and she complied.  The suspects removed audio equipment from the vehicle and fled towards the waiting vehicle.  The vehicle fled the scene travelling southbound towards Highway 401.  No injuries were sustained by the victims. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 25 – 30 years, 5’9” – 5’10”, medium build.  Suspects: #2 – 3: Male, black, 5’9” – 6’0”.  NO FURTHER DESCRIPTION AVAILABLE.

A 24 year old male employee of Mac’s Convenience located at 735 Renforth Drive, reports that on December 29, 2010 at approximately 0320 hours three male suspects entered the premises wearing disguises and armed with a silver handgun.  The suspects ordered the victim to the ground.  The victim complied.  The suspects made a demand for the victim to open the safe.  The victim refused.  One of the suspects punched the victim in the head.  The victim complied and opened the safe.  The suspects removed a quantity of cash from the safe along with cigarettes, lottery tickets and the victim’s cell phone.  The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.  Minor injuries were sustained by the victim, but he will seek his own medical attention.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, white, 5’8” to 5’11”, 180 pounds, heavy build.  Suspect #2:  Male, black, 5’8” to 5’11”, thin build.  Suspect #3:  Male, black, 5’8” to 5’11”, thin build.

It is reported that:
− police located a man in the building suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the body,
− he was taken to hospital where he later died.

The victim has been identified as Jordan Hosten, 18, of Toronto.

Description of Suspect: Male black, 22 to 24 years, 5’8” to 5’10”, 150 to 160 pounds, brown eyes.

Robbery (Home Invasion) – 31 Division

Three males age 35, 40, 53 years and a female age 43 years, report that on December 30, 2010 at approximately 1730 hours, four male suspects wearing disguises, one armed with a handgun entered the premises and ordered the victims to the floor.  One victim was pistol whipped and the victims had their hands tied behind their back.  The suspects made a demand for cash and jewellery while one victim was punched and kicked about the body repeatedly.  The suspects removed cellular phones, cash, jewellery, credit cards, audio visual equipment and keys to the residence and a vehicle.  The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction.  One of the victims was transported to hospital where he was treated for his injuries and later released.  The other victims sustained minor injuries and will seek their own medical attention.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspects #1-#4:Male.  NO FURTHER DESCRIPTION AVAILABLE.

Police request assistance with shooting investigation

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance with a shooting investigation.

It is reported that:
− on Friday, December 31, 2010, at 2:31 a.m., a security guard was on duty at 330 Dixon Road,
− two men approached the security office from outside the building,
− one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and shot at the security guard.

The security guard was uninjured.

The suspects are described as:

1) black, 20−25, 5’10”−5’11”, wearing a dark winter jacket, armed with a handgun
2) black, 20−25, 5’10”−5’11”, wearing a dark winter jacket

Robbery (Home Invasion) – 43 Division

Two males age 20 and 24 years, one female age 27 years, report that on December 31, 2010 at approximately 0100 hours, four male suspects entered a residence located in the No. 43 Division area, two armed with shotguns and two armed with baseball bats.  The suspects ordered the victims to the floor and removed their wallets and cellular phones.  The suspects located a safe, instructed one of the victims to open it, struck him in the face with the butt of a weapon and threatened him with harm.  The victim was unable to open the safe.  The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction.  One victim sustained minor injuries and will seek his own medical attention.  No injuries were sustained by the other two victims.  Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the following described persons in connection with this offence.  Description of Suspect #1: Male, black, 20-22 years, 5’7”-5’9”.  Suspect #2:Male, black, 20-22 years, 6’3”, thin build.  Suspect #3:Male, black, 18-20 years, 6’1”, medium build.  Suspect #4:Male, black.  NO FURTHER DESCRIPTION AVAILABLE.

On Friday, December 31, 2010, members of the TAVIS Rapid Response Team were on patrol in the Queen Street West/Spadina Avenue area.

It is alleged that:
− officers investigated a man at Queen Street West/Spadina Avenue,
− during the investigation, a Jennings 9mm pistol, with seven rounds of ammunition, was
seized from the man.

Rowan Atkins, 22, Toronto has been charged with:
1. Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition,
2. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,
3. Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized,
4. Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order,
5. Possession of Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order,
6. Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order,
7. Possession of Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order,
8. Carry Concealed Weapon.

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Saturday January 1, 2011.
